Which are the closed holidays applicable to the Passport Office?s
For a list of closed holidays for RPO Bangalore, please click here.

When I come to the passport office, I usually can’t figure out which counter to approach for which service. How will I know this?
We have recently installed a detailed map of the layout of the public areas in RPO Bangalore. [A copy of the map is available on our website. Please click here to view the map.] This should help you find the right counter to approach for a particular service. If you need any further assistance, please approach our Enquiry Counter.

What should be the value of the Stamp paper on which the various affidavits required, are to be executed?
Rs. 20/- [non-judicial]

Some “agents” claim that they can speed up the processing of my passport application, for payment of an additional amount. Is this true?
Passport applications are processed in a serial order by us, depending on the date of submission - provided the documentation is complete, police verification is clear and there are no objections on the file. Based on our outputs, we have indicated an approximate date of dispatch on our website (status enquiry: please click here to go to the relevant page). If you wish to speed up the dispatch, please approach us directly under the Tatkaal Scheme, a request letter. There is no other way to speed up your passport! Please do not pay any “agent” any amount to speed up your passport.

Where do I find the formats of various affidavits?
These can be downloaded from our website. Please click here for a list of available affidavit formats.

Is it necessary for me to come to the Passport Office early in the morning, to be able to submit my application form on a particular day?
It is not necessary to come early. Coming early only makes it unnecessarily cumbersome for you and for other applicants, by making the whole exercise of submission look very difficult. Our advice is that there is no need to come before 8:30 AM.

Which are the categories of applicants exempt from police enquiry?
Children below 15 years if at least one of the parents holds a valid passport
Government servants applying for passport with Identity Certificate and their family members, Diplomatic/Official passport holders applying for normal Passport
Retired Govt. servants who have held diplomatic/official passport when applying for normal passport.

Tatkaal applications can be made by submission of 3 documents from the list of 14 documents (please refer the tatkaal section for details), provided one of the 3 documents is a photo identity document and at least one of these three is amongst the documents indicated at (a) to (i) in Annexure-B. In addition to this the applicant should also furnish an affidavit executed on non-judicial stamp paper of Rs.20/- duly attested by a notary public as per the specimen given in the passport information booklet (Annexure-I). Passports of normal validity will be issued in tatkaal cases on post-police verification basis. Those who are unable to produce a VC or any of the 3 documents required, would be issued passport after police verification, as per the earlier procedure. Proof of urgency is not compulsory to apply for a passport under the tatkaal scheme.

If an applicant has a VC or the 3 documents mentioned above, but does not want to pay the additional tatkaal fees, he/she can obtain a passport in the normal course on post-police verification basis, by making the request at the counter and submitting the standard affidavit at Annexure-I. This procedure is particularly useful for applicants who have stayed in more than one address for the past one-year period.

I don’t have a passport. Can my wife apply for a passport for herself ?
Yes, she would have to produce Marriage Certificate/Joint Affidavit, apart from other documents as outlined in the information booklet attached to your application form.
